Example of a SWOT matrix: how to visualize the analysis data?

Post by Jahangir487 »

You can use the following traditional SWOT template to easily gather participant feedback. It's a simple list of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats identified by the participants surveyed. It's a good idea to fill in the matrix in real time, while participants are brainstorming.

If your group is struggling to come up with ideas and/or would prefer a broader structure to think more organically, you can also group the positive (strengths and opportunities) and negative (weaknesses and threats) elements using the following SWOT model:

Positive aspects Negative aspects
Forces
Assets
Resources
Opportunities
Perspectives
Weaknesses
Boundaries
Restrictions
Threats
Tests

Once these two matrices are completed, you can use them to rcs data china complete a more detailed SWOT matrix that focuses more on strategic planning. The example SWOT matrix below is adapted from the strategic management text, Strategic Management , by Fred David.

This can be a little confusing at first. A real-life example can help you better understand this process. In Strategic Management , Fred David provides an example of a SWOT matrix for Campbell's Soup, a brand of canned soup found in supermarkets across the United States.

STRENGTHS
Current increase in profit rates
High employee morale
Increase in market share
WEAKNESSES
Unresolved legal proceedings
Reduced capacity of factories
Lack of a strategic management system
OPPORTUNITIES
