However, on this occasion I have allowed myself to tell you a little story about how the professors and colleagues I had in my master's degree in digital marketing taught me much more than social media trends, returns on investment in email marketing campaigns or the prominent future of the IoT (Internet of Things).
I arrived in Barcelona in the fall of 2011, with my suitcases full of dreams. In Mexico, it is widely argued that if you are going to study far away, you should always do so in a "master's degree" (that is, with the Mexican-style curriculum or structure) or, if necessary, that it be an official master's degree.
This time, my master's degree in digital marketing was a "master's degree" from the institution where I went to study, INSA Barcelona ; it had really opted for college and universities email list knowledge about degrees and protocols.
Master in digital marketing? It's called a life lesson
More of a digital marketing fan than a professional, I started my classes at the end of October. My class was full of “Latin American brothers”, with people from Colombia, Venezuela and Chile mainly; there were also some from other parts of Europe ( Serbia and Italy ), some Spaniards and, so as not to get into trouble with them in case they read this, some Catalans (because of the marked separatism). With a few of them I made a great friendship that I still maintain today.
The professors of the master's degree in digital marketing, on the other hand, were a mix of characters from the marketing industry in Spain, some very focused on technology, others on branding, and some more with an interesting mix between the two, applying them to the resolution of academic or social problems, as was the case of the enigmatic professor Jordi.
Until then, I had thought that marketing was a cold and raw branch of communications, even more so what it entails to study the area of digital marketing.
I came from a humanistic background, which, while it had given me the foundations of the industry, focused more on human relationships and communication. However, it was several of those characters from my master's degree in digital marketing who were responsible for changing my way of thinking (for the better).

What I learned on the trip
It would be a bit boring for you as a reader to see my complete curriculum of subjects and classes in my master's degree in digital marketing, and perhaps you already know everything that this industry and its different branches entail. The important thing here is to share the following with you, inspired a little by the Key Train Manifesto in some lines:
I didn't learn how to manage a social media campaign , I learned that users want content they can love and share.
I didn't learn how to design an email marketing newsletter with its best elements, I learned that conversations between human beings should sound human.
I didn't learn to interpret big data and tables of numbers , I learned to unite my thoughts with those of the reader to make unique connections.
I didn't learn how to do digital benchmarking processes , I learned that someone else will come along and give more attention to your brand's customers if you don't.
Lastly, and among many other things, I learned in this master's degree in digital marketing to speak with a human voice in the midst of technology , with the ultimate goal of sharing the concerns of a community and not just satisfying banal needs. All this thanks to my classmates and teachers.
Interesting aspects to consider in your Christmas email marketing campaign
I take this opportunity to tell you to make that decision you have always wanted to make, to rediscover yourself as a professional and a human being every day . If you are one of those crazy marketers in the world, I want to share with you that we have the power to change the future of human communication.
With nostalgic memories of Barcelona, and of my friends in faraway lands, I say goodbye. Have a great day!
