An overview of the causes and development of GIS technologies

Post by shewlykhatun708 »

Geography is a science based on territorial analysis. Traditionally, maps have been used as a tool for terrain analysis. However, due to the period of scientific and technical revolution and the corresponding development of human economic activity, new tools for territorial organization of production appeared. The main source of information for geographers today is satellite data. Together with information and software technologies, this technical complex is called GIS, that is, geographic information systems.

GIS dates back to the 19th century, starting uk b2b leads with the first observations of the earth's surface by means of balloons, and at the beginning of the 20th century, with the development of aviation, together with photographic technologies, the first archives of aerial photographs began to be created. It should be noted that the greatest impetus to scientific and technical development occurred during the global conflict of humanity, for example, in the first and second world wars, respectively. Even during the periods of positional battles, there was a demand to obtain information about the enemy's positions, available forces, as well as geomorphological structure. If the first two aspects are purely military in nature, the latter, although it ultimately leads to a military objective, arose from the requirements to understand the structure of the earth's surface, to destroy the enemy with underground explosions. We must also appreciate the development of aircraft technologies, which in turn gave rise to GIS technologies, although they were created with the aim of capturing airspace.

The most advanced cartographic information was during World War II, when all sides used aerial technology to obtain the maximum amount of information about the enemy. These cartographic data were already taken from higher altitudes and included more and more information.
